Mallorca

A week of pedalling, eating, sleeping and drinking coffee in Mallorca - done wonders for the soul and a decent start to training for cross season. 33 hrs of (steady) riding. 4 years since I was last there, brilliant to catch up with Don and co.

Been out...

Been out of the loop for a while. Some new team mates to welcome. Some events planned and some races entered. The long, slow ride to fitness has started.

Keep it VC m.

Hell of the Tweed, Sun 10th April

There won't be a cobble in sight and it certainly won't be hellish, but it'll hopefully be a lot of fun.

Yep, on the same day as Paris-Roubaix and hot on the heels of the first VCM monument ride of the year, comes the inaugural VCM 'Hell of the Tweed' off road ride.

The parcours will suit CX or MTB's and will take in some of the finest au naturale trails in and around Peebles as well as a jaunt down Gypsy Glen from the rarely used* 'western approach' or more rideable eastern approach (updated!).

Here's a wee taster:

Local trails ala cx from Andy Wardman on Vimeo.

10am meet at my flat, which looks out onto the Kingsmeadows Road carpark in Peebles, for a 1030 ish start. 3-4hrs or so pedal (gentleman's pace), then soup, cakes, coffee after at mine and a dodgy web feed of the final of Paris - Roubaix.

Holla back if this tickles your fancy.

cheers! andy

*with good reason - involves 45min hike a bike to get up to ridge..

the new boy kicks hard

A big hubba hubba to new signing Greig Walker who picked up a very tidy sixth place (check some of the scalps behind him!) at the Innerleithen MTT at the weekend.
Most of you will already know Greig who is a regular on the Scottish race scene, so make him welcome.

Still Here!

Hi Folks, it's been a very long time between posts for me and I very much apologise. Self employed work, family, the kids! I could rattle the excuses out for hours if you let me for my lack of contribution to the team and to my riding which has been lacking to say the very least.

Well I'm glad to say that I've made a move in the right direction to getting back some sort of bike fitness and motivation to ride. I've entered and paid for two races! They are both of the DH variety, my first love of all things 26" inch wheeled. VCM will be represented in the first 2 rounds of the Scottish Downhill series which will be held at AE forest and Fort William. AE forest I have little experience on and look forward to the challenge but Fort William is a track I love but have never actually raced. Fitness is definitely the key for Fort Bill and is something I lack and lack loads of. I can feel the arm pump already. Needless to say I cant wait for both races and look forward to the challenge of racing and riding in our team colours again(especially in the new VCM DH jersey) Bring on a riding 2011.

Well done to all and good luck this year with your riding and racing.

See
yas round soon

Trailside Surgery

Get out of this one? We were in Torridon yesterday and with 4.5Km left to run Dave's tyre exploded. It was like a shotgun going off, Quite impressive once it had echoed all around the surrounding mountains.
Cue a bit of trailside surgey, A new tube, a lot of duck tape, three zip ties and it was back together........... Well until it blew again 2Km further down the trail, Still it got him closer to the van than expected. Having to run the last descent back to Annat must have been mountain bike agony being able to see what he should have been riding.
